About the event
Nathan Harper explores post-internet imagery in relationship to prehistoric processes and materials as he creates art. The materials of prehistory allow the human hand to make errors subverting the machine perfection associated with his designs, thus celebrating the inherent flaws of the human hand and also drawing upon similarities in human behavior that span thousand-year gaps. Engaging with natural resources takes time that becomes a ritual assigning value and almost meditative or spiritual like qualities to his work.
In Nathan's code drawings, he writes lines of code that make up digital images. He finds an interesting irony that these drawings lend to notions of mindfulness and meditative qualities which are not what we typically think of as a part of the task of code writing.
Plan to join us and spend some time getting to know Nathan and learn more about how he creates his works of art.
